Baby Products Safety Tips

Sometimes when you are out there looking for products and accessories for your baby you may find a huge amount of different options. This may be a little confusing (well, a lot if you are a first-time mom), so here are three small but useful tips to help you get the product you are looking for keeping your babys safety at the same time.

Tip number one: Toys. Every kid likes toys, and babies are not the exception. Watching them play is a joy, but be careful. Avoid giving your baby toys that may have loose parts, or parts that are small enough to be swallowed. Also look for toys that can resist chewing without losing any paint portions. This way you will avoid intoxication risks; keep your baby away from toys that have strings or that are not unbreakable.

Tip number two: Gates Baby gates are used to prevent toddlers to go into an area of your home that may not be totally safe, such as the kitchen. Buy those gates that are one piece and attach themselves to the door frame. Do not use accordion gates, for they have been responsible of a lot of accidents (they are not manufactured anymore, but there may be a lot of them still available on shops). Pay attention to those gates placed on top of the stairs, make sure that is no possible way for your baby to climb (that includes getting rid of any large toy that may be used to climb).

Tip number three: Walkers. There is only one thing to say about walkers: avoid them. It was medically proved that they do not improve your baby ability to walk, and can be very dangerous. A baby in a walker may acquire enough speed and momentum to break through a gate and fall from the top of the stairs, or he may walk directly into a very dangerous place, such as the street if you happen to leave the door opened. Besides any tip I may give you, there is an obligation you have as a parent: never leave a baby without adult supervision, even for a little time. Remember, accidents happen in less than one second, but they are remembered for a lifetime.
