3 Timely Tips to Tip-Off Your Time

Time travel is certainly an intriguing idea. The ability to control time, in the sense that you can go backward or forward to learn something about your history, or look into what lies ahead.

When I was a kid, I remember watching an old science fiction move called The Time Machine where this fella invented a machine which could transport him to another time. A more modern version of this was Back to the Future.

Apparently Im not the only one who is fascinated by the idea of time travel because these movies were big hits.

Recently, my thoughts about time have less to do with time travel, and more to do with either slowing time down and speeding it up.

Many of you are looking forward with great anticipation to some incredibly exciting events, and Im guessing you wish you could snap your fingers and be there, having pushed the fast-forward button and skipped the intervening weeks.

At the same time, there is SO much to accomplish every day, we wish we could slow down the clock so that one day seems more like 36 rather than 24 hours.

Well, the fact of the matter is that we can do neither of those things. Wishing something would happen sooner rather than later doesnt change the reality that the number of days and how quickly they pass is totally out of our control. And wishing we had more hours in each day doesnt make it so.

So, whats a girl to do?

Live in the moment - each and every day.

You may have heard that life is more about the journey than it is about the destination. I dont believe that I dont think its one or the other.

I think its both the journey AND the destination.

Our vision our purpose where we are going is extremely important just as each step of the way is important. Our daily choices about how we invest our time, our energy, and our talents are essential to getting to where we want to be. Sometimes we get so destination-oriented that we forget the here and now of each day. At other times, we get so overwhelmed with the here and now that we lose sight of the destination.

Learning to live each day to the fullest takes practice, and it doesnt happen by accident. It requires being intentional about each day. Slow down, create margin in each and every day, and enjoy each and every minute, hour, and activity to the fullest.

Easy to do? Not on your life!!

Here are 3 tips to help you:

First - revisit your life mission statement. Review your vision your purpose and your desired destination. Remind yourself of your most important things. Keep them front and center to serve as a guide for what you choose each day.

Second Take your to do list and cut it in half. Plan extra time around each activity. This allows for the inevitable those unexpected hiccups in the process. Extra time gives you the opportunity to relax and enjoy the things you are doing, rather than feeling pressured to just get it done and move onto the next item on the checklist. Most importantly, the extra time allows for you to reach out and touch people along the way whether it be one of your kids who has a need for some Mommy time, or whether it be a neighbor who could use a lift to the store, or a stranger who needs some assistance.

Third At the end of our day, take time to review the high points and be thankful for the things in your life that bring you joy and fulfillment.

Whether youre wishing for time to fly, or time to slow down implementing these tips can help you to make the most of every day, enjoying the time that youve been given.
