Keys to Creating a Happy Life

1. Free Your Heart from Hatred/Anger

Sometimes people, events and circumstances will go against your wishes, desires or expectations, thus creating reactions of anger and frustration within you. These reactions are natural and need to be acknowledged rather than denied or ignored. Furthermore, the underlying reasons for the reactions need to be acknowledged and healed.

These emotions occur as a natural progression of painful events and are appropriate as long as they are felt, processed and released. The problem lies when you cannot let go of the feelings and they tend to seep into your heart where they fester until healed. If such is the case, these negative feelings tend to influence your way of thinking, and necessarily, of action and become an integral part of your outlook towards life itself. Then everything that originates within you carries the subtle flavor of these negative feelings.

The first secret to happiness says that no matter what emotions you feel temporarily, your heart needs to remain free of hate/anger.

2. Free Your Mind Of Worry

You worry when your thoughts travel either to the future, or linger in the past. Worry is a phenomenon which depletes energy and divides attentionleaving you incapable of giving your best in the moment.

The only way to give a 100% of yourself to the moment at hand is to be totally present in the moment, without thinking of what's gone by or what is still to comeboth cases where you have no say or control anyway.

Performing the action totally and to the best of one's ability brings back a positive result based on the law of karma, commonly expressed: "As you sow, so shall you reap" - a result which would not be possible had you divided your inner being with worry.

The second secret of happiness is to perform actions based on careful thought and planning, without worry.

3. Give as Much to others as You Want for Yourself, Expect Little in Return (Giving doesnt mean giving things.)

It is important for your happiness to come to the awareness that it is your own expectations and pre-conceived ideas and hopes, which when frustrated, cause most of your pain and agony.

Once this understanding is stabilized within you, you begin to live for the moment, and within yourself instead of seeking outward or external reinforcements for your self-esteem or happiness.

It is not enough for you to be a passive spectator of your life, you need to also be willing to give and share freely of your best qualities without waiting for a similar return.

It is both wise and practical to remember the advice of numerous spiritual masters that "It is in the giving that we receive." The free giving of yourself without strings attached bring both peace and contentment in the long run.

The third secret of happiness is to give and expect little in return. The adage "As you sow, so shall you reap, applies. Sow happiness and you shall reap happiness.
