Prayers for Times Such as These

When we pray we are in communication and intimate relationship with a God who deals with us personally. In recognizing our unworthiness, we approach Him in humility and submission. We acknowledge Him as Sovereign Lord, honor His name and make our requests and needs known to Him. We thank God for the privilege of prayer, especially during times such as these.

Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground. Exodus 14:16.

Most High God, who by grace alone has allowed me the privilege of calling you Father, I am so uncomfortable in this wilderness we call our world. It is indeed a treacherous journey toward the Promised Land. Sustain my faith when I am tried, strengthen my will when I feel faint of heart and spirit; through Jesus Christ my Lord. Amen.

For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility Ephesians 2:14.

Thank you Father God, for the hope of all mankind, Jesus Christ, who overcame the world. Thank you for the blessed assurance that through the blood of my Redeemer, I too can overcome. I do not have to worry about the walls in front of me or around me because Jesus specializes in things impossible for me. Grant that I forever stand on the solid rock, which is Christ Jesus, our Lord; in His name. Amen.

As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peters shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by. Acts 5:15.

Holy God, grant that I live a life casting holy shadows of healing and hope to this broken world. Use me, great Jehovah, as your instrument to reflect sacred influences wherever I am and wherever I go so that all people will be led to our Savior; through the same Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Elisha sent a messenger to say to him, "Go, wash yourself seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will be restored and you will be cleansed." 2 Kings 5:10.

Heavenly Father, It is through your power that I was created. Every breath I take, every morning I wake, and every moment of every hour, I live under your power. Father, I ask you now to touch me with that same power. Fill me with the healing power of your spirit. Cast out anything that should not be in me. Mend what is broken. Wash me until I am whiter than snow. Thank you for listening and answering my prayer. In the blessed name of our great Physician and Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Altogether, Enoch lived 365 years. Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away. Genesis 5:23-24.

My Lord and my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended you by not always living the godly life. I have not always put you before me and I have not walked with you, preferring the company of others. I detest all my sins, my God, for you are good and deserving of all my love. You have been better to me than I have been to myself. Though I am unworthy to even call upon your name, you are the same God whose nature is always to have mercy. Have mercy on me and walk with me on my voyage home; this I plea for Jesus Christs sake. Amen.

"Meaningless! Meaningless!" says the Teacher. "Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless." Ecclesiastes 1:1-3.

Almighty and everlasting God, I am in constant conflict with the enemies of my soul. Grant that I not be infected with the spirit of worldliness, ambition and vanity. Be a fence around me and protect me from all dangers. Guide my steps lest I stumble and fall into the trap of sin; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

As he was walking with them, Goliath, the Philistine champion from Gath, stepped from his lines and shouted his usual defiance, and David heard it. When the Israelites saw the man, they all ran from him in great fear. 1 Samuel 17:23-24.

Father, Author and Giver of life, to believe in you is to accept life with all its challenges. When the giants come, help me to hold fast to my faith in you. Give me the power and fortitude not to give up under pressure. When I do not know what to do, Father, give me the patience to wait for my instructions from you; for the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, our only Redeemer. Amen.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devils schemes. Ephesians 6:10-11.

Lord God, even as I strive to live the Christian life, I find myself in constant battle against the powers that be. Thank you for covering my whole being with your armor. Grant, most merciful Lord, that I not become war weary and discouraged. May the armor of the Holy Spirit be my support and may I always be cognizant of your eternal purpose for my life even in challenging times. This I ask in the saving name of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!" Matthew 14:30.

Sovereign Lord, you told me to ask and I would receive and to knock and the door would be open. I am asking for the victory that only you can give. Help me to keep my vision clearly on my Savior and my heart attuned to your holy word. Supply me with all that I need to be victorious over this world and when it is time to lay down my weapons and study war no more, may I find a place in your kingdom where I will render you praises throughout all eternity. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" John 20:19.

Dear God of grace and God of glory, thank you for arriving on the scene of my life and ministering to my every need during those hours when I least expect it. During the hours of my doubt, weakness, and little faith, you do not abandon me. Grant that I always be prepared for your unexpected visit; in the saving name of my Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.

The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit." John 3:8.

Almighty, Everlasting God, who can know you and who can predict your ways? You are above and beyond all and we can only know what you choose to reveal to us. Thank you for revealing your love and compassion through Jesus Christ, our Savior. Thank you for making it possible for your children to access you at will and call upon your holy name. You interact with your people and do not leave us alone to flounder in helplessness. Help me precious Lord, to remain faithful to the Christian cause and to run this race with patient endurance; for the love of your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

May you find strength and be empowered through His word and prayers from my soul.
